Raising
Free Range Kids
I used to be a Columbia-trained psychiatrist.
Now I’m a barefoot, bra-less mom with three nose rings and two wild children.
Raising Free Range Kids is the story of what happened when I stopped following the script...and started living my own.

The Plot Twist
I thought I was raising free range kids.
Turns out...
they were raising me.
Not by teaching me how to parent.
By showing me how to live.
They reminded me that curiosity matters more than achievement.
That bare feet feel better than expensive shoes.
That sunsets aren't something you squeeze in after work.
That trust is often wiser than fear.
That wandering isn't wasted time.
And that the life I'd spent years trying to build wasn't actually the life I wanted.
Somewhere between raising them and questioning everything I thought I knew...
I found my way back to myself.
And once I did...
I realized this book was never just about parenting.
It was about freedom.

Maybe This is You
Maybe you’ve been feeling that something about childhood doesn’t make sense anymore.
Maybe homework battles have become normal.
Maybe everyone’s exhausted.
Maybe your child is anxious.
Maybe they’re losing their curiosity.
Maybe you’re losing yours.
Maybe you’ve wondered—
Is childhood really supposed to feel like this?
You don’t have to know the answer yet.
You only have to be willing to ask the question.

About the Author
I could tell you about my degrees.
Graduating from medical school summa cum laude.
Fellowships at Columbia University.
The years I spent treating patients, teaching, leading one of the country’s top psychiatric units, and collecting the kind of credentials we’re taught to chase.
They’re all true.
And I’m grateful for every one of them.
But they’re not the accomplishment I’m proudest of.
The greatest privilege of my life has been becoming a mom.
My daughter, Maya, and my son, Rio, are the reason I started questioning the rules, trusting my instincts, and building a different kind of life for our family.
For more than forty years, my life was measured by achievement.
These days, I measure it by laughter, curiosity, freedom, and the quiet feeling that—for the first time—I'm living a life that actually fits.
This book—and everything I create—is an invitation to question the rules, keep what serves you, let go of what doesn’t, and build a life you’re genuinely excited to wake up to.

What If...
What if the life you've been trying so hard to make work...
...was never the life you were meant to build?
What if the constant rushing...
the anxiety...
the pressure...
the feeling that something isn't quite right...
isn't because you're failing?
What if it's your intuition trying to get your attention?
What if your children have been trying to tell you something all along?
That's what happened to me.
Maybe this book won't give you all the answers.
But I hope it helps you ask better questions.
